Plans and limits

The Vaicoa app has four plan states: free mode on your device, a free account, and the two paid plans, Vaicoa Pro and Vaicoa Team. This page lists what each includes, how long each keeps your data, and what happens when a plan changes or ends.

  • Pro and Team cover the whole team. You buy them in the iPhone app, at prices including VAT, with the first month free if your Apple Account is eligible. Businesses in the EU with a valid VAT ID will buy on the web, shortly after launch, at net prices plus VAT where it applies Planned: see Pricing.
  • On every plan that has them, uptime checks run from two independent networks, inside and outside Hetzner, and a check counts as down only when both agree.
  • Support period: Security updates for at least five years from the release of each major version (1.0, 2.0, …).
  • On a free account, checks pause after 60 days without any visit to the app or the portal, and resume on the next visit. The missing days show as No data, not as downtime. Paid plans never pause.
  • On Pro and Team, a check target that is not already a monitored server uses one of the monitored-server slots.
  • Seat: one member of the team. A pending invitation takes a seat too, so on the free account and on Pro, which have one seat, nobody can be invited.
  • Project on the device: a Hetzner project whose read-only token stays in the app on that device. Your team does not see it.
  • Connected project: a Hetzner project whose read-only token is stored, encrypted, on Vaicoa’s servers. They sync it every 5 minutes, so history and alerts keep working while your phone is off.
  • Monitored server: a cloud or dedicated server that runs the agent.
  • Check target: the host that uptime checks point at. One target can have several checks, for example a web endpoint and its certificate.
  • Alert target: a webhook, or on Team also a PagerDuty service, that receives alerts. The email digest is separate: every 4 hours, daily or weekly, to one verified team member.

  • Free mode keeps nothing on Vaicoa’s servers. Its charts come from Hetzner, and its costs are calculated on the device.
  • A monitored server is retired when, for example, it is deleted from its Hetzner project or the agent is removed from it. Until it is deleted, it shows as retired, so its logs and job history can still be read.
  • Changing plan in the app: a move up, Pro to Team or monthly to yearly, takes effect at once, and Apple credits what is left of the old plan. A move down takes effect at the next renewal.
  • A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Then the team has the free account’s terms.
  • Deleting a team cancels its subscription at once.

When a team moves to a smaller plan, or its paid plan ends, the smaller plan’s limits apply at once:

  • Uptime checks fall back to the new plan’s terms. On the free account’s terms, the 4 oldest targets and the 8 oldest checks keep running, every 5 minutes. The others stop being checked.
  • Alert targets above the new limit pause, and the oldest keep delivering. On Pro, a PagerDuty target pauses and does not use the slot. On the free account’s terms, no alerts are sent.
  • The agent: on the free account’s terms, Vaicoa stops accepting agent metrics, log lines and job reports. On Pro, SSH and sudo log lines stop.

Nothing is deleted. Checks and alert targets above the limit keep their settings, and work again when the team returns to a plan that includes them.

  • In the iPhone app, Pro and Team start with one free month, if Apple says your Apple Account is eligible. Apple allows one such offer per Apple Account across Vaicoa’s plans. Cancel at least 24 hours before the month ends and nothing is charged. It is the only offer.
  • During the trial the team has the full plan.
  • On the web, a team’s first business subscription will start with a 30-day trial, once per team Planned.

More than 50 servers, more projects or more seats: write to support@mitjamartini.com and we set up limits that fit. They apply while the team has a paid plan.

You can administer one free team. To create another team, every team you administer needs Pro or Team. There is no limit on the teams you are invited to.

  • Free mode: see your Hetzner Cloud projects, their state and their cost on your iPhone, with no account. The token stays on the device.
  • Free account: uptime checks that keep running while the app is closed, without giving Vaicoa a Hetzner token. You see the results when you look; there are no alerts.
  • Vaicoa Pro: for one person who wants to be told. Connected projects with history, alerts, the agent, log context, job reports and dedicated servers.
  • Vaicoa Team: the same for up to 5 people, with longer history, more alert targets including PagerDuty, SSH and sudo log lines and a signable DPA.
