Costs
The Costs tab shows what each resource costs and what everything costs together, so you can see where the money goes before the invoice arrives. It has two sources: an estimate the app calculates on your iPhone, free and without an account, and the billed costs Vaicoa records every day for a team on Vaicoa Pro or Vaicoa Team.
Read your costs
Section titled “Read your costs”- Open the Costs tab.
- If you have both team projects and projects on this device, choose All, Team or This device at the top.
- Read the total, then the breakdowns under it.
- Under By label, pick the label key to group by.
All shows both blocks, each labelled, and never adds them up. They are calculated differently, and a project set up in both places would count twice. Amounts in different currencies are never added either, because nothing converts between them.
On this device: the estimate
Section titled “On this device: the estimate”For the projects on your iPhone, the app estimates a month’s cost from Hetzner’s current list prices, on the device: On this device · estimated, “net, at current list prices”. Under it are Projects, the five most expensive resources under Top resources, and By label. Networks and firewalls are free at Hetzner and are not counted. This works in free mode, without an account.
An approx. badge marks a price the app could not determine exactly, for example a load balancer whose type the inventory does not report, which is priced as the cheapest type. The invoice can also differ because Hetzner’s price list only has current prices: a server created before a price change keeps its old rate. Labels can correct that (below).
Pro and Team: billed costs
Section titled “Pro and Team: billed costs”For connected projects on Vaicoa Pro and Vaicoa Team, Vaicoa records each resource’s cost every day on its servers. The Team · billed block shows:
- the month-to-date total;
- the forecast: the month so far, extended to the whole month;
- the change against last month, comparing month-to-date with the same days of the previous month, and last month’s total;
- each project, with its own change vs. last month.
Below it:
- Daily costs: one bar per day, over 30 days on Pro, or 30 or 90 days on Team.
- Top resources (billed): the five most expensive resources this month, including any you deleted during the month, marked deleted.
- By label: the billed costs of the last 30 days, grouped by a label key. Each day counts under the labels the resource had that day, so relabelling does not rewrite history. Resources without the key are under Unlabeled.
All amounts are net. VAT and any discounts on your account appear only on your invoice.
By label and by cluster
Section titled “By label and by cluster”The label picker offers every label key on your resources, with
cost-center first if you use it. When a resource belongs to a Kubernetes
cluster, the first entry is Kubernetes cluster: costs per cluster, read
from the labels the cluster’s provider sets, with everything else under
Not in a cluster (which clusters are
detected). To set up labels for teams, customers or
environments, see Costs per customer with
labels.
Dedicated servers and check targets
Section titled “Dedicated servers and check targets”Dedicated (Robot) servers are not in the Hetzner Cloud API, so their price cannot be looked up. A check target, such as a managed database outside Hetzner, can have a bill too. Both count as zero until an admin enters a price in the portal: Monitored Servers → Set price for a dedicated server, Uptime Checks → Add price for a check target. Enter the net amounts from your invoice.
The Costs tab shows these prices as their own line, ”… stated monthly prices, full month”, next to the month-to-date total and not added to it, because one is a whole month and the other the month so far. On the dashboard, the Dedicated servers section shows each server’s price, or No price.
A price that differs from the list
Section titled “A price that differs from the list”When a resource’s real price differs from Hetzner’s list, for example a server that kept an older rate, two labels on the resource in the Hetzner Console replace the list price. Both the estimate and the billed costs read them, and under Top resources the resource carries a custom price badge. The label format is in Costs per customer with labels.
