Quick start
This page gets the Vaicoa app showing data in a few minutes, by one of three ways in. At the end you have a populated dashboard, your own Hetzner resources, or a first uptime check that keeps running while your phone is off.
You need the iPhone app on iOS 17 or later.
Explore with sample data
Section titled “Explore with sample data”This needs nothing: no token, no account and no network behind it.
-
Open the app. On the Dashboard, tap Explore with sample data. The same button is in Settings.
-
Look around. The dashboard ranks the sample servers, with alerts firing on some of them. Resources lists every resource, and Costs shows the month so far. Parts that need a paid plan carry a Pro or Team badge.
The sample project is removed in Settings like any other project.
Your own read-only token
Section titled “Your own read-only token”This is free mode. It needs a Hetzner Cloud project, but no account.
-
In the Hetzner Console, open your project, go to Security → API tokens and create a token with Read permission. Copy it.
-
In the app, on the Dashboard, tap Add a Hetzner project. In Settings it is Add Hetzner project.
-
Enter a Project name, paste the token into Read-only API token and tap Validate token. The app answers “Token works and is read-only.”
-
Tap Add.
The dashboard now lists the project’s resources with their state, and the Costs tab estimates what they have cost this month. The token is stored in your iPhone’s Keychain and never reaches Vaicoa’s servers. You can add as many projects as you like.
A free account and a first uptime check
Section titled “A free account and a first uptime check”A free Vaicoa account runs uptime checks from Vaicoa’s servers. It stores no Hetzner token.
Create the account at account.vaicoa.com and confirm your email address. Your first team is created with it. Then:
-
In Settings, tap Sign in to Vaicoa and sign in. Sign in with Apple, where the app offers it, also creates the account, so you can skip the step above.
-
Open Resources, choose Team, and tap Watch an endpoint, port or certificate from outside your network — add one now.
-
Under What to watch, enter the host of a website you run, without
https://or a path, for examplewww.example.com. Tap Add.
The check appears in Resources under Uptime checks, and the first result arrives within a few minutes. From then on it is checked every 5 minutes from two independent networks, inside and outside Hetzner, also while your phone is off, with 30 days of history. A free account sends no alerts: you see the results when you open the app.
